Interesting, I read an article/blog/whatever by an individual who was a vegan/vegetarian for one hell of a long time. essentially it was the argument that there is an equal amount of pain and suffering, in all forms of industrialized food (whether vegan/meatatarian etc..), that led him to become, of all things, paleo (from longtime vegan to a meat dominant diet). he pointed out that the moral supremacy of the average vegetarian/vegan is severely flawed. and then it went on about how a well rounded diet etc... was easier to consume in terms of ensuring local etc. thus perhaps lessening the suffering.
