So, we left Pana and loaded onto boats in the late morning. We set out under the scorching sun to head across the lake to San Lucas Toliman. The sun was so warm we decided to request a stop, so that we could go swimming and jump off the side of the boat. Awesomeness...some in bikinis, some in boxers, leaping off the railing, and then climbing up the back of the boat like monkeys. Upon arrival to San Lucas Toliman, we walked up the hill away from the waterfront. We turned right at the site of a tourist office (built to look like a "Canadian" home) and made our way to the hotel.
Thanks to the parish who had hosted us, our lunch was a feast and we had the opportunity to tour of some of their projects. The most visible of which was temporary housing from Hurricane Agatha and a new women's center. The less visible, but arguably more important work was that for the past 40 years, the parish had been buying up land, and splitting up the deeds to the local campesinos.
The night ended pretty early, with people needing to catchup on some much needed sleep.
